MetaMask used to be “just” the orange fox you clicked to sign transactions. In 2025 it quietly turned into a full-blown onchain rewards machine. The new MetaMask Rewards program gives you points (and a share of a $30M+ LINEA pool) for doing stuff most degen and DeFi users already do anyway: swapping, bridging, trading perps, and inviting friends.
This airdrop guide was reviewed by the AirdropBuzz research team, who have completed dozens of Solana and DeFi airdrops.

In this review, the AirdropBuzz team breaks down how Season 1 really works, how to join with a bonus, and—most importantly—whether it’s actually worth farming or just another way to bait you into overtrading.
| Time Required | Cost | Risk Level | Our Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Setup once, then passive while you trade | Trading, bridging & perps fees (no extra “airdrop tax”) | Medium–High (market risk + leverage if using perps) | Excellent if you already use MetaMask; don’t overtrade just for points. |
| UX Score | Earning Potential | Time Required | Reward Certainty |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9/10 (built straight into the wallet) | 7/10 (huge pool, but competitive) | 8/10 (set-and-farm once you’re configured) | 6/10 (Linea rewards are real; any future MASK token is speculative) |
What Is MetaMask Rewards (Season 1)?
MetaMask Rewards is an onchain loyalty system integrated directly into the official MetaMask wallet. Once you opt in, eligible actions across supported chains generate points. Those points unlock higher levels, fee perks and—most importantly—a slice of the Season 1 rewards pool paid in $LINEA.
Season 1 is designed as a 90-day campaign distributing over $30 million worth of LINEA tokens to users based on their total points.Points come from swaps, perps, bridging, referrals and a “loyalty bonus” for historical volume.
Consensys has publicly acknowledged plans for a future MetaMask token but hasn’t confirmed details, dates or exact eligibility. This is why many farmers see Rewards as a soft airdrop now plus optional positioning for a potential MASK token later—no promises, just good alignment.
Our Experience Joining MetaMask Rewards
Personal Review Block
An AirdropBuzz researcher joined MetaMask Rewards using the mobile app on iOS, enrolled multiple wallets, entered a referral code, and tracked points earned from swaps, a small perps session, bridging to Linea, and the loyalty bonus for historical volume.
- Date joined: Q4 2025, shortly after the Season 1 announcement.
- Starting boost: Sign-up bonus + referral bonus (500 points total) credited almost instantly after opting in.
- First actions: A series of test swaps on Linea and Optimism, one small perps trade, and a bridge into Linea using the in-wallet flow.
- Loyalty bonus: After linking older MetaMask accounts, a chunk of points dropped in for historical swaps/bridges—roughly 250 points per $1,250 of past volume, capped at 50k.
- Level progress: Hitting Level 2 (Frontier) came quickly with modest volume; Level 3 (Sylvana) took intentional farming but unlocked a 24-hour 50% points boost that made further grinding more efficient.
- UX notes: Rewards lives in its own tab; points updated within minutes of most actions, and the level ladder is clearly displayed. No custom dashboards or DeFi spreadsheets needed.
- Issues encountered: Occasional lag in loyalty bonus updates and some confusion around which chains counted at boosted rates—nothing critical, but you do need to read the fine print.
Time vs Reward: Is MetaMask Rewards Worth Your Time?
Looking at the verdict table, the appeal is obvious: no separate “airdrop farm” UI, no weird third-party tracker—just earn points inside the wallet you probably already use.
Real economic juice: MetaMask and Linea are earmarking over $30M in LINEA tokens for Season 1, with allocation proportional to your points and level. That’s a serious pool compared to typical DeFi campaigns.
How you actually score points:
- Swaps: ~80 points for every $100 in swap volume across supported networks (≈8 points per $10).
- Perps: ~10 points for every $100 of perps trades (opening, closing and TP/SL), making big perps grinders extremely competitive.
- Loyalty bonus: 250 points for each $1,250 of past swap/bridge volume (pre-cutoff), up to 50,000 points per user.
- Referrals: Sign-up (250 points) + referral (250 extra) for new users, and 10 points for every 50 points your referees generate from swaps and perps throughout the season.
Our read: If you already swap, bridge or trade perps via MetaMask, not opting in is leaving free upside on the table. But farming purely for the airdrop—doing unnecessary, fee-heavy volume—quickly eats into expected value. Treat Rewards as a yield layer on top of your normal activity, not a reason to spam trades.
Risks & Things to Watch
MetaMask is a battle-tested wallet, and Rewards is an official in-app feature—not a random points farm. You stay non-custodial the whole time; your private keys and assets remain under your control. That said, the ways you earn points are inherently risky:
- Market & leverage risk: Perps can nuke your stack via liquidations; swaps and bridges expose you to slippage and volatility.
- Smart contract & integration risk: You’re still interacting with onchain contracts (aggregators, perps venues, bridges). Bugs or exploits are always a non-zero risk.
- Over-farming: Chasing points with pointless volume is the fastest way to turn a good reward program into a net loss.
Security basics still apply: use official MetaMask downloads, verify URLs, never reveal your seed phrase, and review approvals regularly. None of this is financial advice—only trade what you can afford to lose, even if the fox is dangling shiny points in front of you.
Step-by-Step Guide: How to Join MetaMask Rewards (With Bonus)
- Install or update MetaMask
On mobile, grab MetaMask from the official app store (iOS/Android). On desktop, ensure your browser extension is up to date. New users should create a wallet and back up the seed phrase offline; existing users just log in.
- Open the Rewards tab
In the wallet interface, look for the Rewards section (on mobile it’s a dedicated icon; on desktop it may appear via in-app links or the “Earn”/Rewards entry point). Tap through to the Season 1 dashboard.
- Join via invite link for a head start
To keep things simple, you can use the official invite link used by AirdropBuzz:
This opens the Rewards flow with the referral code pre-filled, so you don’t have to type it manually.
- Enter referral code & opt in
On the intro screen, MetaMask asks whether you want to opt into Rewards and (optionally) add a referral code.
- Confirm opt-in to create your Rewards profile.
- If prompted, enter TQJC5V as the referral code, or just rely on the auto-applied code from the link.
As long as the rules remain the same, you should receive 250 points for signing up plus another 250 points for using a referral, giving you a 500-point jumpstart.
- Choose which accounts to enroll
Rewards lets you pick which wallet accounts to connect. Start with your main DeFi/trading account and any addresses that have done significant swaps or bridging in the past—these can trigger the loyalty bonus for historical volume.
Claim your Loyalty Bonus (if eligible) -
On the Rewards screen, look for a Loyalty Bonus option. When you tap it, MetaMask scans your linked accounts for previous swap/bridge activity. If you qualify, you’ll usually see a retroactive allocation: 250 points for every ~$1,250 in past volume, up to 50,000 points per user.
- Start farming points the smart way
From here, you’re live:
- Swaps: Use MetaMask’s built-in swap on chains like Linea, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Base and more. You earn roughly 80 points per $100 in volume.
- Perps: If you trade perpetuals through supported integrations, you’ll roughly get 10 points per $100 traded.
- Bridging: Use MetaMask’s bridge interface (especially into Linea) to stack both normal points and any chain-specific boosts
- Referrals: Share your own code with friends; you earn 10 points for every 50 points they generate from swaps/perps across the whole season.
The key is to route organic activity (trades you’d do anyway) through MetaMask where rates are competitive. Avoid pointless back-and-forth swaps just to inflate volume.
- Climb levels & time your boosts
Season 1 uses seven levels—Origin, Frontier, Sylvana, Oceania, Denalia, Titana and Utopia. Levels 2–4 are the most realistic targets for normal users and unlock LINEA allocation, temporary points boosts and perps fee discounts. If you hit Level 3 (Sylvana), consider scheduling your heaviest trading during the 24-hour 50% points boost.
Want a 500-point head start in MetaMask Rewards?
Opt in through our verified invite and you’ll typically get bonus points on top of the standard sign-up allocation, subject to current Season 1 rules.

Referral code: TQJC5V (auto-applied via the button). AirdropBuzz may receive a referral benefit. Trading, bridging and perps all carry risk—this is not financial advice.
FAQ: MetaMask Airdrop & Rewards Guide
Is MetaMask actually doing an airdrop right now?
MetaMask hasn’t launched a classic one-time token airdrop yet. Instead, MetaMask Rewards Season 1 is distributing more than $30M in LINEA tokens to users based on their points and level. Many see this as a “soft airdrop” and possible precursor to a future MASK token, but nothing is guaranteed.
How do MetaMask Rewards points work?
You earn points for swapping tokens, trading perps, bridging assets, using Linea and inviting friends. Swaps earn around 80 points per $100 in volume, perps around 10 points per $100, and a loyalty bonus grants 250 points per $1,250 of past volume up to a cap. Points push you through seven levels that unlock perks and LINEA allocations.
What’s the MetaMask referral bonus?
When you sign up for Rewards, you generally receive 250 points. If you use a valid referral code during onboarding, you get an additional 250 points, for a total of 500 points as a starting boost. The referrer then earns 10 points for every 50 points you generate from swaps and perps during Season 1.
Can I link multiple MetaMask accounts to one Rewards profile?
Yes. MetaMask Rewards lets you enroll multiple accounts, including imported wallets, under the same profile. That means historical swaps and bridges across those accounts can count toward your loyalty bonus, and all new activity can help you climb levels faster.
Does farming MetaMask Rewards guarantee a future MASK token?
No. Consensys has discussed launching a MetaMask token but hasn’t published definitive criteria or a snapshot plan. Points and Season 1 participation are likely relevant, but you should treat them as a bonus on top of your normal trading/bridging activity—not a guaranteed ticket to an airdrop.
Is MetaMask Rewards custodial?
No. MetaMask remains a non-custodial wallet. Your keys and assets stay with you; Rewards only tracks eligible activity and assigns points. You still need to manage normal DeFi risks like slippage, smart-contract exploits and perps liquidations.
Who should consider farming MetaMask Rewards?
Rewards is best for people who already use MetaMask for swaps, bridging or perps and want extra upside from that activity. If you’re not an active trader, or you’d have to force unnecessary volume just to chase points, you’re probably better off keeping your gas money and watching from the sidelines.
