News brief: Optimism reported the following development on October 7, 2026, 20:21 UTC.
What happened
Overview ImportantThis is the op-deployer release for op-contracts/v8.0.0 (Upgrade 20). Use it to deploy new chains with op-contracts/v8.0.0.
Why it matters: what to verify
The practical questions are which systems are affected, whether an official response is available, and what users are advised to do. A headline alone does not establish the scope of an incident.
What this means for airdrop research
This report is not confirmation of an airdrop, snapshot or claim. Verify any campaign separately through official project channels before connecting a wallet or paying fees.
Source and reporting limits
Read the original report from Optimism for the full details. This automatically assembled brief uses the available source summary; the checklist above is editorial context, not independent confirmation or additional reporting.
